About the Cocky and the gum blossom
The pictures on my page have been up for a while now. I intended to explain them and time has got away.
Anyway, about a month ago now, I went down to the local shops get a few supplies. The carpark has a few flowering gums(eucalyptus) trees around it. The cockatoos for some reason like to chew off the small branches with the gum blossoms. I parked my car and went in to the shop to buy a few things and when I came out my car had a pile of bitten of sprigs of gum blossom and sticky stuff all over the bonnet and roof 
Sure enough up in the tree there sat a cockatoo, busily biting off bits of branches from the tree. They are very destructive birds. I have seen them at my mothers sit on the roof of the covered veranda trying to bite the edges of the fibre glass roofing. I have a few around my place that get into my apricot tree and pull off the unripe apricots. They don’t eat the apricots the just bite them open and then take out the seed, crack it and eat the kernal and let all the bits fall to the ground.
I was at the shops yesterday and there was another cockatoo up in the gum tree busy chewing off the small branches with the blossoms and masses of leaves and blossoms all over the ground underneath.

The pics are gorgeous! Even of Mr. Cockatoo eating his snack! They have similar problems in San Fransisco with the cockatiels that make such a mess with the vegetation there. Thanks for sharing another group of beautiful pics! Wishing you a great weekend….hugsss:)
It’s surprising you have any gum trees left after all that! I agree with Sandy…the pics are gorgeous! We don’t have those kinds of birds here, I think it’s far too cold for them. Wish we did, but then, we’d have to grow gum trees too! Hugsssssss Manda, thanx for sharing, I love the pics!!!
Where I work, on one of the wings, there is a huge bird cage with some budgies and cockatiels in it. They amuse the residents with their chattering, and one of the cockatiels sings. He does a great redition of the theme song to the old Andy Griffith show. And he also is a great boost to the ego when he wolf whistles at you when you walk past. ( We all appreciate it and it gives me an extra gitty up in my get-a-long. :P) But I have to say, I much rather see them as you show us here… in their natural wild setting. Thank you so much for sharing these rare to us in the states shots, from the world as you see it. Huggsssssss
Manda, these pictures are fabulous! I really enjoyed your story. I have never seen cockatiels in the wild and had no idea about all these things about them. I can imagine for you that sees them all the time they are a nuisance, ah but what a lovely and beautiful nuisance. I wouldn’t mind if life had more of these type of ‘problems’ if you know what I mean 🙂
