Lake Burley Griffin – Canberra
Today is a Holiday for Australia Day, so what better way to start the day than to get out early for a walk in the centre of the Nations Capital!
There was a bit of a smoke haze this morning and I could smell the hint of grass fires somewhere. Lake Burley Griffin is the centre piece of Canberra. There are walking and cycle pathes all around it and public parks and gardens. In fact when walking around the edge the city buildings and offices are often hidden by the trees and the undulating nature of the land. This morning I didn’t take any pictures of the large public buildings, the National Library, Gallery, High Court, Parliament House and the National Museum, just the lake.
I must add that this is where I have been coming once a week for training.
The lake has become home for many swans, I saw a lot of them this morning, they were not at all shy to come close.
A couple of hot air balloons launched while I was walking. Near Easter we have a balloon fiesta and this year I want to book myself on a flight. At that time of year Canberra is in full Autumn colour and the aim will be to get some good pictures from in high.
There were a lot of people out cycling, jogging and walking around the lake, we are so lucky to have such places all around our city.

Loveeeeeeee the pics! It looks like such a beautiful city as cities go. I’m a country girl myself, but I recognize beauty in highly populated areas too, and this lake offers much splendor to take in.
