Weekend away in Sydney
Every now and then it’s nice to get away for the weekend. Several weeks ago my daughter, Kitty , asked me if I would like to go to Sydney with her, she wanted to go to an exhibition of her favourite artist, Shag, and do some shopping but wanted company. and of course I said yes….that would be cool !
We headed off on Friday mid day… we had booked a hotel in Paddington, one I had stayed at before which was fairly close to the city any anything else we might want to visit. So off we went… I didn’t have time to take pics…but I took one of the tree in my garden that is looking quite nice for autumn 
so I have put that on the front page.
We had a really good run thru to Sydney and got to the hotel at about 4.00pm
I should explain…where I live is 3 hours south of Sydney. I live in Australias Capital City, Canberra. I guess Canberra is a bit like Washington DC…. people forget Canberra is the capital, the seat of Government, but it is more than that, it is home to many people who earn a living just as every one else in the country, we are not all politicians. In fact many of the politicians only live here while parliament is in session and then leave us to our own business. They make decisions for the whole country that we have only the minimum input in to….so don’t blame Canberra for it all! Anyway…..
Kitty and I got to our Hotel in Sydney, settled in and found some dinner and planned what to do on Saturday.
Saturday was a bit overcast, but we thought we would get out and make the most of the day. first stop , Paddington Markets. We were staying in Paddington so the markets were just a quick walk up the road. there were the usual stuffs…jewelery, clothes and art works but nothing that really caught our eye. So we decided to catch a bus into the city, first for some lunch at Circular Quay and then off to the Markets next to Chinatown. I was looking for a leather jacket and anything else that might catch our eye.

Heading home….the weather had turned a bit dull…..

Closer still……..the pretty trees mark the old high way which is now the driveway in front of some vineyards. we decided to stop for some pics……
This section of the old highway now is used as a drive way to a couple of vineyards that have established here, about an hour out from Canberra. As is typical, my camera decided the batteries were out of charge, so this was the end of any pictures. I really wanted to get one of the vineyards, all the vies have their autumn colours, it was very pretty in the afternoon sun… Kitty used her phone to take a couple of pics….maybe some of those will be OK, I’ll have to wait until next week for those!
We got home by 4.30pm, all in all a good trip.

Great pics Manda! I love being able to see what you see there. In some ways, it doesn’t look that different from here, in others… I’m just wow’d. I love the shot of the old fig trees, but I’m a tree hugger and I love em all. I’m glad you had a nice trip with your daughter, and thank you for taking us along with you. 🙂 Huggs
Wow! That’s a weekend that you and your daughter will never forget! You just made memories that she will share with her children! I love the pics, and how the cloudy grey day turned Sunny! It’s Fall there, and we are fianlly getting Sping! Love this world of ours! I’d love a weekend like that with any of my kids Manda, I’m glad you had one with yours! Hugssss and happy Friday to you! Mayber someday I’ll be lucky enough to visit Austrlia…would be an amazing adventure!
